Stainless Steel Outdoor Furniture
According to Gloster, a leading manufacturer of outdoor furniture, "Stainless steel is the generic name for a number of different steels used primarily for their resistance to corrosion. The one key element they all share is a certain minimum percentage of chromium of 10.5%." The result is a material with the strength of steel but with increased resistance to corrosion. If you are buying stainless steel furniture for a coastal environment, keep in mind that salt water in the air can cause small brown spots to appear on the surface. These spots are purely cosmetic and have no effect on the strength or integrity of the furniture. Simply clean it off and you're good to go!
